Offline lives up to Slattery's expectations
We were expecting it as he was working well at home. He probably wants six or seven (furlongs) going forward. Declan likes him, he worked him here two weeks ago and he liked him so we said we'd come back here. He wants goodish ground. We had him ready to run the first day in Naas but the ground was too heavy and that's why we aimed for here. He missed the break and I didn't think he'd do that. He did it well in the finish and Declan said it was probably a blessing in disguise, as he arrived there too soon as it was. He was a bit green in front but did it well. We'll play it by ear now. I think here is a winners-of-one at Navan in three weeks time and we might go for that if the ground dries up. The stiff five at Navan, I suppose, should suit him. Michael (Phelan) bred him himself and he has the dam. He works in Coolmore. It's grand to get him and we're lucky to have him. Whether he'll be sold or not now is another thing.
It all goes to plan for Danz Gift in Dundalk
Masucci loving life on the sand
He's been training well over the winter, from a good break and looking well. He grew and he's a very good-looking horse. Colin rode him full of confidence and he's after loving that. He's a good-ground horse so it'll either be back here or freshen him up again. We'll keep him sweet. We ran him back a bit soon on soft ground last year. We've gelded him and that helped him. He's had a big smile on his face all winter and I think the secret with him is to keep him nice and fresh and sweet.
Have A Nice Day knows where the winning post is
He did it well and was down to a mark. It was a hot race and it's great that he won. He's tough and he's genuine. The handicapper gave him a chance, basically, and he got his head in front. Last year he won first time up for me and he ran admirably all year. He was just a bit too high. He was fourth in a premier handicap at Leopardstown, and looked like he was going to win turning in, but the English horses caught him at the finish. He's tough, he's genuine and I'd like a few more like him. It depends on what the handicapper does now, he has to give him a chance.
Alfirak wins a thriller in Dundalk
We picked him up at the July Sale. He was in the catalogue as a colt but he was actually a gelding. He was a bit of a lad when he came, and a bit roguey, and we thought he was maybe going to be a bit ungenuine but he's sweetened up lovely. He still looked green there in the straight and was lugging in a bit. I honestly didn't think he'd got there. Rory reckons he'd be a lot better on good ground on grass. Hopefully we'll have a bit of fun for the summer if the weather dries up. We might come back here for one more before we get good ground.
