Craig Nichol, the rider of Expert Lady (GB), was unseated shortly after the second hurdle.
After viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that the incident was accidental and caused by Golden Maverick (FR), placed second, jumping left-handed as Expert Lady (GB) jumped right-handed resulting in the horses making contact and Nichol becoming unbalanced and being unseated.
Following the race, the Veterinary Officer reported that Golden Maverick (FR), placed second, had lost its left hind shoe.
