Going - Good To Firm. Very warm and sunny
Little Sweetheart makes all for Flynn/Grant
she has plenty of toe and when she ran at Navan, she didn't get home. We came here for the downhill (track), to the finish. She hits the gate and gets three or four lengths and she's gone - I didn't think I was that far ahead, but you can't be sure with her. It's perfect ground out there.
Lyons maiden winner bolts in
she's a straightforward filly but I don't like seeing them go off that short (starting price), but I don't have any control over that! . It was a stupid thing to put her in at the Curragh, but I do think she is up to black type but we'll do baby steps with her now and there'll be good gaps between her races. We'll look for a winners' race for her and we'll have a go at black -ype before we put her away for the winter.
First flat winner for Grassick junior
that's my first flat winner - finally! . It means a lot to have a winner for Joe (Keeling, owner) who has been with me since the start and I also bred him myself. I've always liked him but he's been immature and Niall (McCullagh) said today he was still very green. The further he was going though the further he was going away. We were going to go to Galway on Tuesday, but came here for this race instead and I think seven furlongs is his trip. I've 10 riding out, mainly flat horses with a couple of dual-purpose ones.
Father-daughter combine for gambled winner
he's only small but is thriving! All his winning has been in Dundalk, and I'd say he loves good fast ground. Fix It is great to have for Caroline to start off and she rides him out every day. I always said you need 20 rides to know what's going on and Caroline's starting to get the hang of things and get some good rides now.
Shell House makes all in Down Royal
She won nicely. She likes that ground and is uncomplicated. It's nice to get another win with her.
Windward Passage sails home in the north
He's a good horse on fast ground and a bad horse on soft ground. We got caught out by the rain last time. He's a brother of Universal and he's similar enough; struggle to win as a two-year-old then start winning as a three-year-old in handicaps and keep going. Hopefully he will keep going as he's still a bit weak.
Manalaplan wins 329th Majesty's Plate
we might go to Turkey for a Group race in September over a mile and six or a mile and a half. He'll get fast ground there and tonight was a lovely opportunity for him.
