Narima wins Navan opener
Narima never jumped a hurdle today and was ‘lairy' in front. She is a big light filly and that'll do her for the season - she'll get some spring grass now. Hopefully she'll make a nice mare next year . she wasn't right at Leopardstown two runs ago.
Another Victory for Elliott
Final Victory is a nice horse but we couldn't get him jumping well enough at home - Paul (Carberry) said he knew we were in business after jumping the second flight today though. He has always worked well at home, being rated in the 90s on the Flat.
Dgab does the talking
he has been unlucky and has hit the goalposts a few times. I thought at the final flight that he was going to burst it off the cross bar again!. If ever a horse deserved it, it was him today. I think he may be better on better ground but I don't think he'd like summer ground. He'd get a trip too and is a nice prospect . I am delighted for his owners (Gigginstown House Stud) who are obviously excellent owners to have.
Davy doubles up
Last Instalment promised to be a nice horse from well back. However, I thought I'd have had him out before Christmas but he didn't have the best of preparations and had a few pitfalls, nothing major, along the way. He should make an exciting chaser and will only have a couple of more runs over hurdles . the Fairyhouse Festival could be a later option for him. He is affective on nice ground and is a beautifully actioned horse.
Townend making a Bold bid
he's been knocking around a bit but is low enough in the handicap. He'll go for another hurdle before we give him a spin over fences - he's a big fella.
Arctic Mick scores for Lynch/O'Hare
Arctic Mick did it well and was entitled to win off his chase mark. Going right-handed at Fairyhouse the last day probably didn't suit and while he'll run in the Ulster National at Downpatrick next Wednesday, the chase course is on the outside so going right-handed there should be fine.
Eyesontheprize shocks at 50/1
that was brilliant! She worked well two weeks ago and we were saying to ourselves, ‘could we go on that?'. I didn't think she's go on that ground today but she's tough and will go for a winners' bumper next . we wont go hurdling for a while. She wasn't really ready when she ran in the Bewleys Bumper at Punchestown but she was qualified and we said we'd take out chance.
