Gunzburg strikes for Twomey & Lee
She was ready to run first time out over six and all of mine come forward, and I was delighted with the progress today. That (Group 2 Airlie Stud Stakes over six furlongs at the Curragh) will come a bit soon for her, but I think she is stakes class, and we will hopefully look for a stakes race for her in the coming weeks. She likes nice ground and she skips along.
McGivern seals first winner through So Majestic
That was really, really, exciting. I usually sell winners, I never train them!. I have a couple of fillies in training literally to breed from, and, if we got lucky enough, to sell on. We had her at the breeze ups last year - sold her, bought her back and she proved me right this time around. She was at William Haggas' for about six weeks and apparently she worked but got sick. She went back to the pre-trainer and went to the February Sales. We decided to take a punt back on her because she clocked very well at the breeze up. We thought a lot of her and we actually had the half-sister at home this year. I sold her in Arqana. I think she is very special as well, so hopefully the pedigree can get a bit better. If we are breeding from her, that is going to be a main selling point (being by Siyouni). She (her mum, trainer Joanna Morgan) gets a phonecall nearly every day when I ask what I will do next and how do I fix this problem?! She's a big influence on the whole thing. I learned my trade off them (her mum and late father Tommy McGivern) and probably no better two people. Every time we thought the penny had dropped, she would go with the choke out and try too hard. She is so genuine. We just have to keep teaching her how to race. Today Leigh (Roche) was very positive on her and the quick five really suited her. She's in on Wednesday at Naas against older horses and she will run. She's a very sound filly. After that we will look for the quick five again, wherever. I'm just happ
Dun Na Sead speeds home over the flying five
A fast five (furlongs) seems to be the call for her alright - Tipperary, Cork and here. A stiff five she seems to be getting caught late on. The last time she won in Dundalk she won off this mark. She had some consistent efforts and she wasn't really coming down the ratings. We were fairly confident coming here today if everything went to plan. She has loads and loads of pace. We have been banging this drum for a while but at the Guineas meeting (at the Curragh) there wasn't one race for a five-furlong horse. Now we have the Derby weekend coming up and we have one race, the Rockingham which is a top-end handicap. They wonder why there are no sprinters in Ireland - you have to put the races on for them. They (sprinters) have their part to play and we have done well with them. We didn't look beyond today - today was the plan for a while. We will see what he (handicapper) does. Hopefully he won't give her more than a pound or two.

Lia Fail springs a surprise for Mulvany
We were a bit disappointed the last day. As I said, there was no explanantion for it and we were expecting her to be there or thereabouts the last day. We brought her to Dundalk the other day and she worked very well, so we were coming in with some confidence. She was good and game, and hopefully she will go on from that. Sean works with me and I'm delighted for him, he loses his 10lb claim now. He joined us early on in the year and we've given him a few more rides. The 10lb certainly helped and he is getting better all the time.
Slattery completes double on durable Sunset Nova
When he wants to, he knows where the winning post is!. He was good today. He's won nine now and he's a right fun horse. He's a good servant for his owners and for me too. I've won a lot of those races on him. He's back down to a winning mark. He can't compete with the heavy weight on his back, but when he's right he's good.
