Hazledoc fights for Dundalk opening win
that was an important nose! It's always nice to win with the fillies as two year olds and they were at it from a long way out. She has still a bit of growing to do so I imagine she'll improve a good bit. She'll want niceish ground and will get further.
Cosmos stars for Shanahan & Lordan
after Wolverhampton she ran terrible so we gave her a break.
Vector Force proves too strong
it was a well deserved success and I think seven furlongs would be his minimum trip. He was only doing enough up the straight and he'll obviously want further. He was professional about the way he did it and was professional to come back quickly after running last week. He'll get a nice rest for the winter now and I'm delighted for his owners Vincent and Geraldine Gaul who've had eight second this year but this is their first winner! It's a nice Christmas present for them!
Rummaging's search yields another win!
Conor gave him a super ride and himself and Shane are two great two lads. Shane came up to ride work for me before racing today and was up to congratulate the connections after the win. Rummaging is a great, reliable horse but it didn't work out for him last week with the pace of the race and he was stuck out wide. It was ideal for him today as he sat in and got a lead. The night he won here, he was off the bridle turning in and they can't seem to go fast enough for him over six furlongs. He seems best on this surface and will get a well deserved break now. I'm delighted for the Newells (winning owners) who bred him and have been patient with him.
Ned's Indian scores for Cleary & Harty
we were going to let Ned's Indian off on his holidays last week but we schooled him during the week and despite it being two years since he'd seen a hurdle, he was fantastic. We then thought, with the ground then appearing to stay good, we'd give him a spin in a maiden hurdle at Leopardstown. Next year he'll go for some summer hurdles; he relaxes in his races so it should be easy for him to switch codes. His owner Edward Powell has been fantastic and has trusted us and stuck with us even when he wasn't showing a lot on the course last year.
Downey flying as Bomber gives him tenth win
Cusack's Bog War gains his maiden win
I fancied him a bit the last day but he ran a shade flat; he didn't get the best of runs and had nothing to race with up the straight then. He travelled and battled well today when he had to. He needs to fill into himself a bit more but there are a few races for him in January.
Cleary doubles up on Ballyadam Brook
I'm absolutely delighted with that because after going to Cheltenham with him, we were disgusted and I could have crawled under a rock! He seemed in good form going there and I thought he'd run a reasonable race but he hit the first couple and ran no race. He was rated 139 at one time over hurdles and was a decent horse but then got injured and has had little niggly injuries since; when he's right he's good though but when he's wrong he can be terrible. We'll go for a two mile handicap hurdle at Leopardstown next.
