Newcomer Port Augusta puts himself in the shop window
It took him a little while, he was a bit green. We are not really surprised, he was training good. He was a horse that was meant to be a breeze-up horse, but he put up a splint and we had to regroup. We think he is nice - we didn't think we would beat the favourite (Emerald Banner), but we knew we would be competitive. There is (a winners' race coming up) but six furlongs was too short for him so, wherever we go, he will want to be going further. He has just a bit of class that got him through. He's for sale.
Cash Or Crypto rewards Marnane's faith
His form earlier in the season made him a 'favourite favourite'. We sent him to the Sales because that segment of the syndicate is to be finished off. We bought him back because I just felt there was more to come. He is obviously very quick to jump from that stall (15) and get across. I think there is a five (furlong race) coming up for him here as well. They were the two plans before Christmas. I'm delighted for Luke because he is doing a lot of work for us, he has been great all year long. He's a top-class rider. A bit like Oisin Orr who won the big race in Bahrain (International Trophy on Spirit Dancer today), sometimes they just need a bit of support and opportunities. It is very hard in this country, but he is a top-class rider.
Step up to a mile proves just the trick for Bergamasco
He has (delivered up in trip), it is actually a very satisfying win because he's a horse that always worked well and he was probably ahead of himself mentally early in the season comparative to his frame, he's a big horse. He knew his job too well early and then he was overracing in the early part of his race, when really he is probably a miler behind it all. We changed tactics today - we just said to James to jump and do everything he could to ride him cold and get him to settle. Thankfully, they went a nice gallop. It was a super ride from James, though. He is a 5lb claimer, but if Colin (Keane) rode that horse you would say it was a super ride. He is very talented. Full credit to him and the horse. He's a big horse and I'd say he is on the improve. Hopefully, he will go on from this.

Robert said he was way too keen, so it was a good performance. We are going to keep him on the Flat until Christmas and then he is going to go over hurdles in Leopardstown on the third day over Christmas. He is going to try 2m4f over hurdles. He'll probably have a break then and we'll see what happens. We trained him in the summer last year and he suffered from allergies, but he doesn't really like soft ground so it is tricky.

Cheekpieces and stepped him up in trip. He was just idling a little bit at home and we put the cheekpieces on him and they actually helped him to go forward. I can't explain him jinking, it is a horrible (wet) night. If you were running into that, you might jink to the side too. The horses are running really well and are in great form. They are in good order, thank God, and we are delighted.
