Permission was given for Southbank (IRE) to be mounted in the chute and for Kingwood Queen (FR) to be mounted in the chute and go early to post, wearing a red hood.
An enquiry was held to consider interference approaching 2 furlongs out, involving Level Up (IRE), placed second, ridden by Jordan Williams, Gogo Yubari (GB), placed third, ridden by Morgan Cole and Secret Mistral (GB), unplaced, ridden by Jack Doughty.
Williams was suspended for 2 days for careless riding as he had angled his mount right-handed around the heels off Miss Anya (IRE), unplaced, when insufficiently clear of Gogo Yubari (GB), causing Cole to be checked in her run.
Approximately ½ a furlong out, Four Adaay (GB), placed fifth, lugged quickly left-handed, briefly impeding Kingwood Queen (FR), unplaced, but after viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding offence was involved and that it had not improved the placing of Four Adaay (GB).
The winner, Lipsink (IRE), appeared to show improved form compared with its previous run at Southwell on 17 October 2024 where the gelding finished tenth of twelve, beaten by 6 lengths.
It was noted that Michael Appleby’s representative could offer no explanation for the gelding’s improved form.
Lipsink (IRE) was routine tested.
Following the race, Joe Fanning reported that his right rein broke approximately 3½ furlongs out on Strong Johnson (IRE), unplaced, leaving him with limited control thereafter and as a consequence he was unable to fully ride a finish.
After inspecting the broken equipment post-race, the Stewards considered that the failure could not have been predicted with the bridle and reins apparently being in a serviceable condition prior, therefore they took no further action.
