More joy for the Holden horses
We will keep him over fences now for a while. I knew he had it in him today, he was in flying form at home, he was working brilliant and was in great condition,. I'll leave him alone now for a week or two and then look for something for him. He'll probably go for a handicap, but I've no plan for him.
Lash but only just for Byrnes and Russell
It suited him to be kept away from the rest of the field and he just lasted it out. He was fairly tired at the finish. He is in again on Sunday but it's unlikely he'll run again as he had a hard race there,.
Dreamer shows his true worth at 33s
He is a horse that we always thought a lot of, but he has been disappointing. The day he was third in his point-to-point we thought that he was going to be okay and that he'd improve, but he disappointed and disappointed. I didn't know what the hell was wrong with him, so we basically trained him from the field,. In Killarney it looked he was going to win turning in, but he didn't get home. I just thought the same might happen here, but thankfully he kept going. I had a couple of quid on him at 160/1 on Betfair this morning. I'm based in Charleville, we are basically a pre-training operation. Brendan is a very loyal owner from Ballincollig in Cork. He is a point-to-point man through and through and so I had to convince him to let this lad run. He loves his point-to-pointers so a two mile hurdler is the opposite of what he ever had. If he didn't perform today I don't know where we were going to go with him.
Crawley gets another win out of "buzzy" Lily
She is buzzy enough so we put the hood on her and it worked anyway. When we were going through Waterford town I had to get into the box with her to settle her down, she was very buzzed up,. It was her first handicap and she is game. She stayed on well and she stayed on well at Bangor as well. The race at Kilbeggan probably came too soon for her and it was a hot enough race. There was some horses rated a lot higher than her, and she isn't of that calibre. I don't know what the handicapper will do now, she might get into another 109, but if she can get into another 116 it'll be grand. I think claiming off her helps as she is a small mare and Chris Timmons is good value for his claim. He has a good brain on him.
O'Brien's Glendine River the toast of Tramore
Brian Hayes gave her a brilliant ride, he just left her get into it and find her own feet. Last night didn't take much out of her,.
Pennys shows Walsh and Cashman's talents
That's my first track winner, I've had a few point-to-point winners. We always owned him, and he is the reason I got the licence. I only have the licence since May or June, so it took us a couple of runners to get off the mark, but we got there. I train just outside New Ross in Rathgarogue, so we didn't have far to travel. I have four or five for the track and a few more point-to-pointers. He was only ten lengths off them in Galway the last day, but maybe the speed has gone off him, it's been a few years since he done a good two mile time. He is hardy and he stays, he loves passing horses and he obviously loves this place. He is three from three now around here.
