Flanagan bags winner on eve of wedding
he’d been schooling great at home and I’d say the hurdles probably improved him on the Flat as well. He was lucky not to go down at the first but after that he was brilliant. I was worried that the ground might be too soft for him as a few times before he ran bad and I was blaming the ground. He’ll probably go for a winners race and he can go back on the Flat at some stage as well.
Betty Zane makes all for hurdles win
she was entitled to be fizzy (on reappearance run) but she behaved herself well. She’s not fully fit but we saw this opportunity and said we’d take it. The bit of ease in the ground was ideal as she's a heavy set mare and probably running fresh suits her even though she took a blow. This track lends itself to one like her. It’s a real front-runners track. Her year is only starting now and I’m hoping she can get a bit of black type over hurdles before we go chasing. She has plenty of scope. She’s homebred by Jim (Robinson) and will be a lovely mare to breed from down the road.
Fourth win for Oskar High
he’s a real fun horse that jumps and stays. He’d 9st7lb on his back today and was entitled to be competitive. He did it well. We were worried about the ground as it was raining down our side this morning but it’s way better than they are saying. It’s on the good side of yielding. He might go to Listowel as long as the ground is not too soft and is belonging to two great lads, Darragh and Pat Gleeson — a nephew and uncle from Dunmore near Tuam, who enjoy it.

Western win for Cromwell's Ilikethewayurthinkin
I suppose he was entitled to win off that mark but yet did well to win after making a mistake at the last. He got the trip well. I’m not sure where we will go from here but it’s nice to win with him.

Rothwell bags another Ballinrobe winner
a bunch of friends from school own him and David Thomas, one of my best friends from school, is involved in the syndicate. He is getting married in the Isle Of Man next weekend and all the syndicate members are going to the wedding, so it should be a good weekend. he’s been a great servant all year and I’ve had this race in mind for a while. I’d say the race today suited him and he’s more of a good ground horse. He could be advertised for sale and we might buy a young horse again.
Merlin Giant canters to bumper win
he (Merlin Giant) had a high level of form and is far superior to the summer bumper form at the moment. He never came out of a canter and could be a nice horse. Thankfully the ground is safe, they have done a lovely job here and the rain is after helping.
