FormscanBy Alan Magee - It’s always something of a guessing game as to how horses will cope with this extreme distance but MOSSBANK certainly appears a real dour stayer. He surprised some classier rivals over 2m3f at Naas earlier this season, and made Thyestes Chase winner Monbeg Notorious work all the way to the line over a punishing three miles at Navan last time. He handles soft ground well and is partnered by last year’s successful rider Lisa O’Neill. Gordon Elliott has a strong hand as he also saddles Jury Duty, a fine third to Presenting Percy in the Pertemps Final here last year. He’s taken well to fences this term including a Grade 2 success at Punchestown but it was a bit disconcerting the way he folded on the run-in at Naas last time. Philip Hobbs’ yard has been out of sorts for much of this season and No Comment was thrown in at the deep end on his sole chase start last month in the Silly Isles at Sandown. He went close twice in staying handicap hurdles at Aintree and Punchestown last spring, and is an interesting mount for Derek O’Connor.
