The winner, The Crooner (FR), appeared to show an improvement in form compared with its previous run at Warwick on 10 December 2020, where the gelding finished seventh of eleven, beaten by 51½ lengths.
It was noted that Venetia Williams could offer no explanation for The Crooner (FR)’s improvement in form on this occasion other than the gelding appears to run his best races at Leicester where he remains unbeaten.
The Crooner (FR) was routine tested.
The performance of Lord Sparky (GB), which was pulled up, was considered.
It was noted that Caroline Bailey could initially offer no suitable explanation for the gelding’s performance on this occasion.
The Veterinary Officer reported that a post-race examination of Lord Sparky (GB) failed to reveal any abnormalities.
However, some time after the race Caroline Bailey reported that the gelding had a trickle of blood present in one nostril.
