A 1-2 for trainer John Hayden with Alone He Stands holding stable mate Emily Blake by a neck under a wonderfully timed ride by Fran Berry. Berry made his move inside the final two furlongs and came from almost last to lead in the dying strides.

The winner ran an encouraging race at the Curragh last weekend when only going down by just under four and a half lengths and the slight bit of better ground and the extra furlong probably brought out the very best of the eight-year-old.

Emily Blake had Paul Townend taking off seven pounds but the line failed to come in time for the consistent four-year-old who was improving from two previous starts so far this term but still bumped into one too good.

Cuilaphuca was settled in mid division in the early stages and crept closer on the approach to the straight but he failed to quicken up past the leading pair but will be certainly one to watch next time out with an extra furlong likely to be far from a hindrance.

Regaleya was a further neck back and the course and distance winner probably ran up to his rating and Admiral Barry who was determined to set off in front but beat just one home. Smarty Socks was slow away and lost some ground at the start before finishing ninth at the death.
