Permission was given for Suanni (GB) to wear a red hood to post and for You're Cool (GB) to go early to post and be mounted in the chute.

An enquiry was held into the running and riding of Gunnerside (IRE), ridden by Oliver Stammers, and trained by Grant Tuer, which was slowly away, a fact the rider reported at scales, and as a result ridden at the rear of the field.

On turning in, under tender handling, the gelding proceeded to make good progress through the field to finish seventh, beaten by 4 ½ lengths.

The rider was interviewed and shown recordings of the race.

The rider stated that his instructions went out of the window once Gunnerside (IRE) was slowly away and that his main aim thereafter was to get the gelding back into a rhythm and attached to the main field.

He continued that having turned in he wanted to get the gelding balanced before asking for more vigorous effort, which he did ¾ furlong out.

The rider felt that he had asked Gunnerside (IRE) for all reasonable and permissible measures having taken into account the start.

His explanation was noted.

Approximately 1 furlong out, Theoretical (IRE), unplaced, edged marginally right-handed at the same time as YOU’RE COOL, unplaced, moved right-handed for clear running, resulting in YOU’RE COOL being taken further right than intended and causing Red Alert (GB), unplaced, to become momentarily awkwardly paced on its heels.

After viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding offence was involved.

Half a furlong out Suanni (GB), placed third, drifted quickly right-handed shifting Olivetti (GB), placed fourth, off its intended line, causing the gelding to be briefly denied a clear run.

The winner, Murbih (IRE), appeared to show an improvement in form compared with its previous run at Beverley on 27 August 2022, where the gelding finished eighth of nine.

The representative of Antony Brittain could provide no explanation for the performance of the gelding.

Murbih (IRE) was routine tested.

Following the race George Rooke reported that Suanni (GB), placed third, hung right-handed in the final furlong.
