Permission was given for Rebel Path (FR) to be mounted in the chute; and for Bella Kopella (IRE) to be mounted in the chute and go early to post.
Prior to this race, Richard Fahey was asked to explain the reason why he was running Rock Opera (GB) here at York, on going officially described as Good to Soft, having declared the gelding a non-runner at York on 15 June 2024 on ground with the same official description.
Richard Fahey’s representative explained that he was happy for Rock Opera (GB) to run, as in his opinion the ground on this occasion was riding slower than the official description at York on 15 June 2024 and was therefore happy for the gelding to take its chance.
Prior to this race, Brian Ellison was asked to explain the reason why he was running Utilis (IRE) here at York, on-going officially described as Good to Soft, having declared the gelding a non-runner at York on 15 June 2024 on ground with the same official description.
Ellison explained that he was happy for Utilis (IRE) to run on this occasion, as the gelding had been dropped back to 6f from 1mile 1f.
Approaching the final furlong, Rebel Path (FR), placed third, hung right-handed causing Trilby (GB), placed fourth, to be short for room and checked, but after viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding offence was involved, and had not improved the placing of Rebel Path (FR).
Approaching the final furlong Maxi Boy (GB), placed second, hung right-handed moving the winner, Ray Vonn (IRE), off its intended line which in turn interfered with Trilby (GB), placed fourth, causing the rider to take a check, but after viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding offence was involved.
The Starter reported that Ray Vonn (IRE) was the subject of a third criteria failure.
B F Brookhouse was informed that the gelding could not run until the day after passing a stalls test.
Following the race, Saffie Osborne reported that Hierarchy (IRE), unplaced, was slowly away; Alex Jary reported that As If By Chance (GB), unplaced, was slowly away; James Sullivan reported that Spirit Of Applause (GB), unplaced, was denied a clear run approaching the final furlong.
