The weather came for us today and probably didn’t suit a lot of others. He’s a proper little dinger of a horse and has such a good record around here — horses for courses and he loves coming back. The reason we bought him was the Ballybrit form and he’s paid off his purchase in spades. Ray (Barron) was very good on him. He hadn’t ridden for me before and I didn’t want to overload him with instructions. I just told him to take his time and if you get a gap on the hill make sure you go out and not in. He had a willing partner and it was great to see. It’s our summer marquee Festival and we don’t have too many social runners. They are all here with good chances and it’s going well.

Prior to the meeting, the Raceday Stewards approved a request from Clerk of the Course, Mr L. Wyer, to amend the distance of this race to 2 miles and 191 yards (+ 12 yards), due to the realignment of the track since declaration time
The Raceday Stewards interviewed Mr R.W. Barron, rider of Teed Up, concerning his use of the whip in the latter of this race. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned. In his evidence, Mr R.W. Barron accepted that he had exceeded the whip guidelines for frequency with the whip. Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Raceday Stewards were of the opinion that Mr R.W. Barron was in breach of R10(3)(g) by using his whip with excessive frequency. Having taken his recent record into consideration, the Raceday Stewards suspended Mr R.W. Barron for one raceday.
An extended handicap for four years old and upwards rated 70-100 that have run three or more times under any Rules of Racing on or before 24th July, 2023, at least one of those runs having been over a distance of eleven furlongs or more on or after 1st June, 2022
Penalties - (after calculation of the handicap) A winner shall carry 7lb extra for each race won.
Riders - Qualified Riders under I.N.H.S. Rules. Riders will receive allowances under Rule 52 (iii). Top weight after the time of declaration shall not be less than 12st 2lb and the minimum weight is 10st 7lbThis race WILL be started from stalls. Closing Date: 19th July 2023
