An enquiry was held into the running and riding of Absolute Jaffa (GB), ridden by Henry Brooke, and trained by Oliver Greenall, which was settled just behind the leaders until making some headway in the home straight to finish fourth, beaten 17 ½ lengths under apparent tender handling.
The rider was interviewed and shown recordings of the race and the Veterinary Officer reported that a post-race examination of Absolute Jaffa (GB) failed to reveal any abnormalities.
The rider stated that his instructions were to sit handy on the rail.
He further added that Absolute Jaffa (GB) had bolted to post, ran too freely in the race and hung left-handed.
He stated that he had made his effort in the home straight but the filly had no more to give.
His explanation was noted but Henry Brooke was fined £140 for failing to report at scales that the filly ran too freely and hung left-handed.
The winner, Rose To Fame (GB), appeared to show improved form, compared with its previous run at Huntingdon on 3 March 2019, where the mare finished sixth, beaten 42 ½ lengths over 2 miles 3 furlongs.
Kim Bailey’s explanation that Rose To Fame (GB) benefited from the drop in trip and the fitting of first time cheek-pieces on this occasion, was noted.
