Permission was given for Moore Clouds (IRE) to go early to post and to wear a red hood in the preliminaries.

Muse Of Fire (IRE) arrived at the start with a small amount of blood in its mouth.

After being examined by the Veterinary Surgeon the start, the gelding was deemed fit to race.

An enquiry was held into the running and riding of Muse Of Fire (IRE), ridden by Kevin Brogan and trained by Gary Hanmer, which appeared to be tenderly ridden from jumping the last in the back straight until approaching the second last fence, to finish second beaten 16 lengths.

The rider and the trainer were interviewed and shown recordings of the race; the Veterinary Officer reported that post-race examination of the gelding failed to reveal any abnormalities.

The rider stated his instructions were to hold the gelding up, believing that there would be a strong early pace they would be able to pick off runners.

Brogan explained that leaving the back straight he felt that Muse Of Fire (IRE) was flat out and that if he had asked for more of a vigorous effort rounding the bend the gelding would have weakened quicker and would have not obtained second place, which in his opinion was the best possible placing he could have achieved today.

The trainer confirmed the instructions and that the ride accorded with the instructions given.

Hanmer added that he felt that Muse Of Fire (IRE) would be more suited to galloping track with bigger fences.

Their explanations were noted.

Following the race, the Veterinary Officer reported that Rolling Clouds (IRE), placed fourth, had lost its left-fore shoe.
