Gordon Elliott and Paul Carberry completed a double at Ballinrobe when Georges Conn landed the Mayo News Maiden Hurdle.

After being off for 710 days, the 5-2 chance could be excused to need the outing and looked in trouble at the third last, as Carberry was driving him along well off the pace.

He made giant strides on the home turn, though, getting alongside leader Nimdani and going on to score by three and a quarter lengths.

The double started when Mr Steadfast capitalised on a mistake by Trainstation to land the Paddy Smyth Memorial Maiden Hurdle.

Trainstation cruised into the lead at the third last and looked to be travelling better than Elliott's 3-1 winner, but he met the last wrong and lost all momentum, allowing Carberry to drive Mr Steadfast into the lead and win by a length and a quarter.

The duo were sent off 10-11 joint favourites, but Ruby Walsh always looked more comfortable on Aminabad than Barry Geraghty on Vercingetorix, and after travelling sweetly throughout he came home unchallenged.< Kylecrue got the better of a great battle with Dalasiri to land the valuable McGrath Limestone Works Ltd Handicap Hurdle.

John Ryan's 9-2 chance followed up Sunday's Tipperary victory by always keeping just ahead of Dalasiri all the way up the home straight, finishing three-quarters of a length to the good under a delighted Ryan Treacy.

Norman Lee trained the first two home in the Supermac's Handicap Hurdle, with 4-1 favourite Supreme Vic not hard pressed by Adam O'Neill to get the better of stablemate Blackandamber Vic by a length and a half.

The Michael O'Hare-trained Some Pride (7-1) ran out a gutsy winner of the McWilliam Park Hotel Handicap Hurdle under Noel McParlan.
