Five time Flat winner Try Again recorded his first success under National Hunt rules, as he got up close home to take the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Handicap Hurdle.
The Paul Flynn trained five-year-old was second on his most recent try over flights, and was last seen finishing third to Gentil J on the level at Galway on Tuesday last.
Available at 20/1 in early shows, the son of Dubai Destination came in for plenty of market support, touching 6/1 on-course, before going off the 9/2 second favourite under Robbie Power.
Settled towards rear, the bay victor took closer order from four out, but looked to be struggling in seventh at the second last.
He jumped the final flight in fourth, and powered home up the inner from there, getting up close home to prevail by half a length.
The hat-trick seeking Cappacon (13/2) had to settle for second under Barry Browne for Oliver McKiernan, while the 4/1 favourite Silver Star who looked set to score before the last, was a neck back in third. Ejayteekay (7/1) completed the placings another length and a half back in fourth, with the first four in the betting occupying the first four positions.
Flynn said afterwards: "It was unlucky for Barry Browne as he had to ride the second horse and we just came and done him but that’s racing.
"He settles around tight tracks but pulled the life out of him (Robbie Power) there. He was so keen he thought he wouldn’t finish, but he gave him a chance and he ran on again.
"If he relaxes there is a bit more in him. He's tough and very genuine, and I could do with a few more like him."
