Peter Fahey's Sit Down Lucy was left clear at the second last to come home at her leisure in division two of the mares' maiden hurdle at Limerick.
The race had boiled down to a match between the leader Roxanya and Sit Down Lucy who improved to close on her at the second last, with the pair clear of the remainder.
Roxanya took off too early at that flight, though, and crashed out to leave the race at the mercy of Sit Down Lucy who eased home.
The 4/1 shot came in by 14 lengths from 18/1 chance Robin Scherbatsky Elite Des Mottes completed the placings at 125/1.
Jockey Kevin Sexton said: “I think she would have won anyway. I could have done with the other horse staying up as she was having a look when she was left in front.
“She stays fairly well, she jumps and travelled. I fancied her big time.
“We thought a bit of her. Her first run in a bumper was good and then she was a bit disappointing.
“She’s come back stronger and better this year. She’s a nice one to look forward to.”
Sit Down Lucy was making her debut over hurdles having run in three mares' bumpers with a best finish of second on debut at Down Royal on St Patrick's Day last year.
