"That's his 15th win and he's been a great servant," enthused Andy Slattery after Sharjah won the Cliona Hagan & Her Band Handicap at Fairyhouse under the County Tipperary trainer's son Andrew.
After the Shamardal gelding made all and held the fast-finishing The Mouse Doctor by half a length, Slattery elaborated: "He'd probably be a 90 horse if he let himself go but he just barely does enough. He's that kind of horse, he minds himself and that's why he's run 105 times and never had a day lame.
"He stays at it well but he'd be idling and wouldn't be killing himself.
"I was hoping he'd get into the 70 handicap in Galway but that's probably gone now.
"We'll keep going with him now and then give him a break for Dundalk in the winter. That's what he likes, he has to have good ground."
Anthony McCann, trainer of Temasek Star reported to the Clerk of Scales that his charge burst a blood vessel.
The Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board Veterinary Officer examined Temasek Star, trained by Anthony McCann, at the request of the Stewards and reported the animal to have had blood on the nose as a result of exercise induced pulmonary haemorrhage.
