After recording a double at Naas yesterday, Gary Carroll was again on the mark this evening, as he partnered Tara Dylan to victory in the Booka Brass Band Handicap.
Without a win in ten career starts, the Tom Mullins trained four-year-old was stepped up in trip to a mile and six this evening.
As short as 8/1 last night, she proved easy to back, and went off a 25/1 chance in the colours of owner Melvyn Kennedy.
Settled in mid-division on the outer, she took closer order from three furlongs out. She came with her challenge over a furlong from home, and was soon pushed to the front, keeping on well from there to score by two and a quarter lengths. Prickly who was sent off the 9/4 favourite, had no answer once headed a furlong out, and he had to settle for second under Killian Leonard for Edward O'Grady.
The front two went a length and a quarter clear of My Manekineko who finished third under Pat Smullen for James Nash at 7/2.
Tom Mullins said afterwards: "She had a cracking run first time in Gowran but it all went downhill after that and she lost her confidence completely on soft ground.
"Kieren Fallon said she didn't go down the hill in Clonmel and it was soft last time out. She's a good ground filly.
"I think the world of her. Her granny won the guineas and she is a half-sister to Sister Blandina.
"She's in over a mile-and-a-half in Galway. I have her on the right track now hopefully."
