The 4/6 favourite Helvic Dream gained his first win since landing the Group 1 Tattersalls Gold Cup in 2021 when taking the Tote Amateur Derby (QR) Race under Patrick Mullins

Not surprisingly, the six-year-old enjoyed this drop in class and travelled powerfully in mid-division before making smooth headway in the straight. After heading Lord Erskine in the final furlong, he just had to be kept up to his work to see off market rival Coeur Sublime by three parts of a length.

Noel Meade trains the winner for Mrs Caroline Hendron and Mrs M Cahill.

“He enjoyed himself and travelled away through the race," said Mullins.

"He doesn’t do a lot in front and I didn’t want to hit the front two furlongs out.

“I was very respectful of Coeur Sublime who is a very high class horse but I think my lad won comfortably.

“He could be a Supreme Novice horse. I think he used to be very keen but he was very settled there in a messy race and if they want to try that (hurdle) avenue I’m sure they could. I’ll have to put my name in the hat (for the ride over hurdles)!”
