Jamie Powell gave Aussie Girl a well judged front-running ride to claim the €100,000 Dubai Duty Free Summer Fillies Handicap at the Curragh.

The Fozzy Stack-trained filly took them along in the seven-furlong contest and was asked to stretch passing the two pole.

She had a couple of lengths advantage passing the furlong marker and kept on well in the closing stages to hold the late finish of Lan Cinnte by three-parts-of-a-length.

The 5/2 winning favourite was well backed from as big as 13/2 this morning. The consistent daughter of Starspangledbanner had been runner-up at Naas just four days ago.

Stack said:- “I only declared her at five to ten on Friday morning when I saw there were only nine in it.

“Obviously it wasn’t planned out as she only ran in Naas a few days ago and that’s her third race in a fortnight. She’s tough.

“The track probably plays to her strengths as she likes bowling away and there is a strong wind pushing her along.

“It’s a good pot and it’s great for Mr Piller who has had horses with us a long, long time.”
