Indigo follows up on good debut effort
The opening race on the card at Roscommon this evening the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Median Auction Maiden went to the Paul Flynn trained, Chris Hayes ridden Indigo River
Sent off at 50/1 on her debut at the Curragh last month, the daughter of Kodiac ran a cracker there to finish a good fifth, just over four lengths behind Sophies Echo.
Today, she was returned at just 6/1 and tracked the leaders in the early stages. She made smooth headway to lead a furlong and a half from home and was ridden out to score by a comfortable two and a half lengths at the line. Pc Henry ran well to take second at 20/1 for Ger Lyons while Ballydoyle newcomer Wrote finished a further two and a half lengths back in third at 7/2.
The 10/3 favourite Hot Bed for Wayne Lordan and David Wachman raced keenly in front and faded from over a furlong out, finishing seventh at the finish,
Winning trainer Paul Flynn said afterwards: "She had a good first run and improved from it. She hit the front a bit too soon, but she did it well.
"She is for sale and hopefully she will be sold, if not I might run her in a Listed race next."
