The testing ground at Roscommon proved just the trick for Youceeyouceecee who landed some nice bets when returning to form in the Eurona Brisknet Handicap.
The Rock Of Gibraltar gelding won twice last year at Tipperary and Limerick on heavy ground, and similar conditions here suited Susan Finn’s charge perfectly.
The five-year-old was available at 16/1 earlier in the day, and was backed on track from 11/1 into 8/1.
Killian Leonard switched him towards the far rail to get a clear run, and stayed on strongly inside the final furlong to beat Stoked by two and a quarter lengths. Compass Hill was a further three quarters of a length away in third.
Ms Finn said “He’s as tough as you get but he can’t quicken. He’s very ground dependant, and all he does is keep at it.
“I’m just sorry that Eamonn O’Carroll is not here as he’s been in and out of hospital, and hopefully that will cheer him up a bit. The owners are from Listowel so that is where he will be heading. They are great owners and have been with me since I started.”
