Application of a second-time visor worked for Dundalk-specialist Inishmot Prince (11/2) today, as the Tom McCourt-trained gelding gained a sixth course success in the opening Friday Night Lights At Dundalk Handicap.
Jockey James Ryan has been on board the Elzaam-gelding's back for 28 of his 31 runs and all his wins, and while the pair, today, were briefly short of room over a furlong out, quickened well to lead close home.
McCourt wasn't present for the five-year-old return-to-form and Ryan reported “he's been a right old servant to me, Tom and the owners.
“He's had six wins here and is very consistent when he gets back here. He's been disappointing on the grass but after coming back here recently, he seemed to have a bit more life about him at home.
“I just had to wait for the gap to open but it actually kept me in for long enough as once I got there he didn't do too much. I was happy I got there at the right time.
“We were happy that the visor would bring a bit more improvement as he can be a lazy old horse. He can jump out and travel well some days and other days he can jump out and not try at all.
“He's a quirky old horse but once he puts his mind to it he's well able to do it.”
