Damian English's appearance with Luke Harvey and Jason Weaver in the AtTheRaces studio went down a treat, and it was topped off when the Dublin trainer landed the finale with Bluesbreaker
English's horses had been performing up to expectations all night, but the man that knows him best left nobody in any doubt that Bluesbreaker was his best chance of the night.
In split two of this Horseware Ireland Handicap, Rory Cleary made all on 4/1 third market choice Bluesbreaker.
He needed the line at the end, but the Fastnet Rock gelding held on by a neck from Time Stands Still
There were the same margins back to the third and fourth, Zeeyalater and Rosenborg Rider
"I'm delighted to get a winner for Damian today especially with him being on the telly," commented Cleary.
"He's a right old horse and is very versatile. He won over five here last time, but he has a great attitude and is very laid back.
"Once he got his head in front he steadied up, and he just does enough for you no matter what trip it is."
Meanwhile English intimated that Bluesbreaker could be back at Cork in March - where he triumphed last year- and that he'd be kept on the go as he loses his fitness quickly if not.
C.P. Hoban, rider of Kookaburra Charlie trained by Anthony McCann, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount hung right.
S. Foley, rider of War Room trained by S.M.Duffy, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount was feeling the surface in the early stages.
