He was very good beforehand and I was very happy coming here and I thought he had improved a lot from last year,. We have deliberately campaigned him fresh this year because we'll aim for some of the bigger targets in the spring. He'll get a Cheltenham entry, as will Vaucelet, although I've always thought he'd be a fair horse for Aintree. The rain is bound to come and Naas can get very heavy so it might be too close to Cheltenham. One week changes a lot in a horse's life but at this moment I'm very happy to give him a Cheltenham entry.

He is a fine horse and we were all set to go to Stratford with him but he got injured on the walker and cut his leg and bruised himself. I thought that would be it, so we've had a job getting him back to here. We hadn't the time to take him away galloping but Barry (O'Neill) said he had loads of horse left today. He is going out on the grass this week and next season I think I'll aim him at Aintree. Aintree takes a horse that stays but has the gallop to go 2m4f and a big strong horse. He goes on any ground, is only seven and is by Winged Love and they are late developers so you'd be hoping there is more to come. It took me five hours to come down.

The horses are in great form at the minute. They were probably a wee shade off over the winter time but now they are all really well and it showed today. He deserved it today. He has been enormously unlucky. People tend to forget that he is only seven. He was a bit like a young pup going out on the GAA pitch after playing brilliantly in the youth teams. Then he goes into the senior team and gets knocked about. For me this year has been his learning year and he will be an even better horse next year. He was very unlucky not to win in Thurles and the Tetratema probably came a wee bit too soon. The last day was a funny race because, even though it was two and a half miles, it turned out to be ten seconds slower than standard on that ground. It was a stop-start race and then a sprint at the finish and that is just not him. Today I said to Barry to just dictate it. I see him as a horse for some of the big races next year. We will see how he comes out of this. He might go to Stratford or he could go to Punchestown either. Punchestown is always very nice ground. He was second in Stratford as a novice and the horse who finished third that day was second in Topham last week.

He has really come of age this year. Last year myself and Barry (O'Neill) took quite a lot of stick when he got beat a couple of times,. He was nearly kind of bolting and running away. It would have been so easy to turn him into a horse that you could only run flat out with. We rode him out the back, and rode him out the back, and a couple of times we let him down when he got there to win it and he just came second, and we took a lot of stick about it. It was the making of him. That's a year in getting him settled, there's a lot of work has gone into that horse - from Barry riding him to ourselves at home. He's only a six-year-old and he is a proper horse. I have ambitions with him. The whole thing with him was never to get too carried away and just take it wee steps at a time. If we did that, the horse would come to us. If we did the opposite we would ruin him. I'm delighted for the horse and for us. In a normal year you would be thinking of the Joseph O'Reilly or Punchestown. He is ready for that but now we are in a situation where we don't know what we are doing with plans. It is great that he has put that under his belt now - great for him, great for the owners and for us to have something to build on.
