I thought Ross gave him a very good ride from a wide draw,. The plan was to go forward but they were going hard and he just took him back and settled him in. He got a nice clear run. Seven is a good trip for him. Whether they went too hard in front, I don't know, but he came home well. I'm delighted to give Ross a winner. He's in riding out for us for the past few months and he's heading off to Australia tomorrow for a month. That'll give him a bit of a boost. He rides well. He used his head well on him and the 3lb was a help. I'm delighted to get the first of the year out of the way. He'll keep him going up here as he loves the surface and seven is probably his ideal trip.

he's a grand big horse, likes it around here and has plenty of size and scope to him. That's a good trip for him and we just put the cheekpieces on him as he was idling a little bit. It just helps him concentrate. We'll keep tipping away with him, he's still relatively lightly raced and is getting the hang of it now - it's a big difference when they go into handicap company. He had a wide draw tonight and Ross did well on him; he got him in and got a little bit of cover and once he relaxed he was always happy.

He's a lovely big horse and he's after putting together a few good runs. He deserved his day today and seven on that surface suited him really well,. Now that he's won his maiden we'll go handicapping with him and take it from there. He's a big horse and has had a light season so there is plenty of racing left in him.
