If you're not in you can't win! He had a bit of form around here last year but the race cut up. He was off for six months before his run the last day and we had decided (in February) to pull the plug with him after Warwick. We tried to hold him up at Warwick but it didn't work and left him off after that. I might look at a handicap hurdle with him - he is rated 136 and it is an option. He has been a great horse to me.

He's learning and is beginning to cop on to himself,. He had won in France on soft so we were optimistic that he would get through it. We'll give him a break now and bring him back, maybe in November. I don't know where we'll go with him now. He likes flat tracks but I'd say we wouldn't be going to Punchestown or those places, yet anyway, as he's still learning. That was a great purse. Max couldn't get to Listowel so it was great that he got over today.

He came from France and had great form over there but lost his way a bit at Paul Nicholls. I think the set-up of a big yard didn’t really suit him, and Max McNeill and his racing manager Ian Turner decided to send him over here and it’s worked wonders for the horse. He was low at one or two but that’s just the French way of jumping. He was very good over the last two when I was able to keep a hold of him. He can be hard on himself as he’s quite keen but he jumped spectacularly today which was a big help to him. Adrian is a real horseman. It’s the first horse that Max McNeill has had in Ireland so I’m delighted to have his first winner here.
