FormscanBy John O'Riordan - Having run well in a better race at Killarney last month, MERCURY MISSION can strike here for trainer Michael O'Connor. The five-year-old gelding stayed on well enough when finishing fifth, to suggest that he would be worth trying over this longer trip. Downtherefordancin was unable to build on a promising Naas second, when only fourth at Cork next time. However, that was still a fair run in the circumstances, so the Gavin Cromwell-trained gelding has to be given serious consideration. Penny Jar, one place behind Downtherefordancin in Cork, should again be competitive. The eight-year-old ran really well on the flat on his only previous visit to this track.
