“I thought she had improved a bit but that was a bit of a surprise," admitted trainer Johnny Murtagh after his wife Orla's Winiata took Roscommon's featured Irish Stallion Farms EBF (Fillies) Handicap at her ease.
Niall McCullagh was aboard the Society Rock filly again, after winning on her last time too, 18 days earlier at Leopardstown.
The three-year-old quickened up well on the ground once McCullagh let her go, scoring by five and a half lengths from Cj Cregg
"Niall said she travelled really well. They didn’t go quick and I thought she might get outpaced but he said that was a good trip for her," further reflected Murtagh.
“She went through the ground really well, and we’ll see what the handicapper does now. She’s probably going to get a bit of a hike but she’s won two nice pots this year for the wife. We’ll go again when the ground is soft.”
The Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board Veterinary Officer examined Dawn Of The West trained by Noel Meade, at the request of the Stewards and reported the animal to be post race normal.
