Billyfairplay brushed aside his rivals when romping to an eight and a half lengths win in the Crowne Plaza Race & Stay Handicap (div 1), scoring for trainer Johnny Feane and jockey Mark Gallagher.

The four year old son of leading sire Dark Angel finished sixth on his previous start at Navan in October but had won his previous two races and today was the well backed winner (8/1 this morning in to 7/2 favourite) when making all for a very easy success.

Afterwards Feane reported “he got a handy enough lead there and he faced into the headwind well but he’s going to get a fair hike for that.

“He’s won three now and is good and genuine. He’s just coming to himself and is definitely better on the all-weather. He grows a leg on that surface and is nowhere near as good on grass.

“It’s great for the lads, Pat and Cathal Lynch from Clogherhead.”
