Two Tipp wins in a week for Sno Snowell is proving to be a good conveyance for some of County Cork's amateur riders and a week after a Clonmel success under Johnny Burke, Liz Doyle's runner followed up at Thurles today in the Tipperary (Lady Riders) Handicap Hurdle under Jane Mangan. There is only one flight in the straight at the Tipperary track today and Mangan (her father Jimmy was on the mark earlier with Letter Of Credit) elected to set sail for home on Snowell from two out (usually the third last, approaching the home turn). Some of Mangan's rivals decided to wait a bit longer. Aine O'Connor attacked on The Conker Club from the last but the line came in time for the 5/4 'jolly' – the margin being half a length. There was a nine length gap back to Preswell Lad in third. Doyle explained: "I wasn't going to run him but I changed my mind at the last minute. "I didn't like running him twice in a week on heavy ground but my other horse, Rafi De Triana, didn't scope well and we decided to let this fellow take his chance." Fionan O’Driscoll (from Tramore) owns Snowell and he remarked: "I bought the grand-dam as a foal many years ago. She won a point-to-point at Lisgoold. "The dam of this lad, Snow Water only has one eye and she didn't manage to win. "Snowell is my first winner on the track." (AM & EM)
