Rubber-padding and plastic-panelled hurdle types continue either in usage or in trials in Irish racing at present, with tests of the newly developed plastic-style to continue over the coming weeks.

Thirteen trial days of Easyfix's new traditional-styled but plastic-panelled hurdles commenced at Tipperary on October 6 and have since also been utilised at two recent Fairyhouse fixtures. Both Thurles and Galway are soon set to join the trials, which ends at Christmas.

In contrast, usage of different rubber-padded hurdles began in Britain some eight years ago and, for the past five years, both Cork and Wexford have been the only Irish courses to use those such hurdles.
