There was a third Pat Smullen winner on the day, and a second for Dermot Weld as Tocco D'Amore impressed on debut in the concluding Irish Stallion Farms E.B.F. Maiden at Naas.
The daughter of Raven's Pass has a page to die for and indeed she cost 2 million Euros as a yearling. Diodorus and Tocco D'Amore may have rolled about a bit inside the final couple of furlongs and Lightening Fast got hampered.
The stewards called an enquiry but there was no alteration.
That's a minor detail though as the real story was the very impressive nature of the way in which Tocco D'Amore put the mile and a quarter event to bed inside the last, stretching away for a six length win over Clongowes
Weld, earlier on the mark with another Moyglare three-year-old filly, Sorelle Delle Rose said: "She did it very nicely. It's very unusual for me to run a filly first time out against the colts so that could have told you something. It didn't surprise me but first time out I thought she might have needed it.
"She'd worked well and it was a very true run race. I thought it rode a very good maiden. She'll go for a Stakes race next, maybe an Oaks Trial. She is a nice filly in the making."
Smullen rode Sorelle Delle Rose and his other winner was T For Tango for James Nash.
The Stewards enquired into two instances of possible interference in the straight involving Diodorus, ridden by R.L. Moore, placed fourth, Lightening Fast (GB), ridden by C.T. Keane, placed fifth and Tocco D'amore ridden by P.J. Smullen, placed first, where it appeared Lightening Fast(GB) ran short of room. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards made no alteration to the Judge's placings but found R.L. Moore in breach of Rule 214 by riding carelessly and suspended him for one race day.
Mrs. T.K. Cooper, Acting Steward, absented herself from this enquiry. .
C.T. Keane, rider of Lightening Fast (GB) trained by G.M.Lyons, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount suffered interference in the straight.
