The father and son team of Tom and David Mullins combined to take the bumper at Fairyhouse this evening, the Weatherbys Ireland GSB (Pro/Am) Flat Race, with Investmentsuccess
The six-year-old son of Oscar finished just four and a half lengths third to Killer Crow on his debut at Cork last month, and having opened at 6/1 this morning, he was friendless with punters and went off a 10/1 chance.
Settled in fourth, the bay victor improved into second in the early straight, as he went in pursuit of the leader Draco who attempted to make all under Sarah O’Brien.
A furlong from home Investmentsuccess hit the front, and he was ridden out from there to score by seven lengths, from Draco who plugged on to take second at 4/1, with the well-backed 5/4 favourite Marinero managing only third, a further length and three parts back under Shane Shortall for Tony Martin.
Tom Mullins said afterwards: "Just greenness beat him at Cork. It is not his fault he didn’t win before now.
"He is well bred and I expect him to go all the way to the top as a chaser. He is a half-brother to a good horse in Down In Neworleans (and Chomba Womba).
"He is very good and he has got to be, please God, a very good chaser."
