Soul has Feane and Manning up and running for 2021 Kevin Manning put a first winner of 2021 on the board as he guided Kendred Soul home three parts of a length in front in the Hollywoodbets Racing & Sports Betting Claiming Race at Dundalk. For the Handbrakes Down Syndicate and making a second appearance for the Johnny Feane yard (also off the mark for the year), this Kendargent filly was given most to do by Caesar’s Comet. However the successful chestnut, a joint market-leader at 7/2 for this six furlong heat, wasn’t to be denied. She achieved success despite her draw out in stall twelve. “It was grand to win that. We had a few runners recently and they've all been running well,” said Feane. “We thought she would win that and the lads that own her will be delighted. We'll see now if she's claimed, if not they'll have a bit of fun with her.” Kendred Soul was claimed back by connections whilst Never Back Down was claimed by Lisa Sheridan to be trained by JA Murray. The Stewards interviewed Thomas Cleary, trainer of Lady Alcazar, concerning the conduct of this horse who refused to race. Evidence was heard from the trainer concerned who thanked the Stewards for the patience shown to his charge and also apologised for his charges behaviour and stated that today was her last chance. Having considered the evidence The Stewards suspended Lady Alcazar from racing for a period of 90 days. (GC & EM)
