Slight change in Galway going The going on the national hunt track at Galway has eased slightly ahead of today's opening fixture of the festival meeting at Ballybrit. The going is now described as yielding, soft in places for the jumps action having been yielding at declaration. The Flat ground is still soft ahead of today's seven-race mixed card which begins at 5.15pm. The course received 4mm of rain overnight and the forecast is for further showers prior to racing. The Connacht Hotel (QR) Handicap is the highlight on day one and the Tony Martin-trained Ted Veale is currently disputing favourtism with Dermot Weld's Sierra Sun for the two-mile contest.
