Scherzando scored for the second time on the Polytrack this month when produced with a well-timed challenge by Paddy Harnett to land the Story Of Dundalk Stadium Book Available Online Apprentice Handicap.

The son Of Shamardal, unraced for Godolphin, is yet another bargain buy for Denis Hogan having cost just £1,000 at the Horses-In-Training Sale in Doncaster last year.

The four-year-old has appreciated a switch to the all-weather this autumn scoring over a mile three weeks ago and following up here over seven furlongs.

The 9/2 chance quickened to the front well inside the final furlong to beat Jack Berry House by half a length, with Macocha another length and a half away in third.

Harnett said, “He jumped fairly smart, they went hard and it suited him. I was able to tuck in halfway, and when I pulled him out in the straight he went away about his business.

“He did it fairly well in the end, and showed a good attitude as well.”
