Locally based trainer Micky Fenton sent out Run Forrest Run to follow up his victory of 12 months ago in the Mallow Handicap at Cork.

The six-year-old gelding, who had run well on a number of occasions of late, was registering his first success since taking this prize last year.

Ridden by the very promising Darragh O'Sullivan, the 9/1 chance travelled noticeably well just off the pace on the far side of the track, before being produced to lead over a furlong out.

Staying on strongly inside the final furlong, the son of Bobby's Kitchen went on to beat Green Valentine by half-a-length.

Micky Fenton said: "It looks like the blinkers worked and Darragh is a good, up-and-coming jockey so we were lucky to get him with his 7lb claim.

"A few of the boys, Seamie Heffernan and Leigh Roche, who rode him on his last few runs said he wasn't trying very hard and to try the blinkers, so they were spot on.

"He won this race on bottomless ground last year and we're lucky to have him."
