The best result of all was to see place prospect Lunar Display and J J Slevin up after a horrible looking final flight fall, as Royal Kahala impressed on jumps debut in the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Mares Maiden Hurdle at Fairyhouse.
She was good here in a bumper ten days back and the Winning Ways Starlet Syndicate-owned and Peter Fahey-trained five-year-old gained more admirers after this display.
Kevin Sexton took the reins on the smooth traveller, and missing the last a touch only proved to be a minor impediment.
The chestnut soon extended away to account for favourite The Getaway Star by six and a half lengths.
Given what she’s achieving on the track, and her background, bred by the McCarthys at The Beeches Stud in County Waterford, Royal Kahala is an exciting sort.
“I was a bit worried coming here as she’s after having three quick runs. She’s schooled well and done everything grand. I think she’s a very nice filly,” said Fahey.
“I think the further we step her up in trip she’ll improve away.
“We’ll probably give her a little break now and freshen her up. She’ll go for the black type novice mares’ races and see where she slots in.
“She’s after winning an EBF bonus twice in ten days. It’s a great scheme for anyone with fillies, and everyone wants a filly now.”
The Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board Veterinary Officer examined Darling Daughter trained by Gordon Elliott, at the request of the Stewards and reported the animal to be post race normal.
A.W. Short, rider of Didgeridee trained by Miss Clare Louise Cannon, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount was pulled up having never travelled during this race.
