Seven of Philip Rothwell's 11 winners this season have now come at Ballinrobe and his latest western success was with Ricky Langford owned by a group of the trainer's school friends, in today's Adare Manor Opportunity Handicap Chase.
Successful twice previously over hurdles, the seven year old son of Alkaadhem carries the colours of the Kings Horses Syndicate and was today steered to a five lengths win by Rothwell's retained claiming jockey James O'Sullivan.
Rothwell later reported “a bunch of friends from school own him and David Thomas, one of my best friends from school, is involved in the syndicate. He is getting married in the Isle Of Man next weekend and all the syndicate members are going to the wedding, so it should be a good weekend.”
He added “he’s been a great servant all year and I’ve had this race in mind for a while. I’d say the race today suited him and he’s more of a good ground horse.
“He could be advertised for sale and we might buy a young horse again.”
