Penhill didn't have to come off the bridle to make a winning debut over jumps in the www.tramore-racecourse.com Maiden Hurdle.
Willie Mullins' charge was sent to post a warm order for the two-mile contest, returning at 4/11 shot having been 8/11 this morning.
Paul Townend settled the gelding in behind the leaders before taking closer order going to the second last.
He jumped up to join 33/1 shot Nikki Steel at the last and eased to the front on the run-in for an effortless length-and-a-half success.
The winner was progressive on the Flat in England and was last seen finishing sixth off a mark of 100 in the November Handicap at Doncaster.
"He did it nicely. There is plenty to work on I'd say with his jumping. As the race went on he jumped better,” said Townend.
“He was a nice flat horse and we'll have a bit of fun with him.
"He was a stayer on the flat, I'd say he'd have no problem going a bit further. He seems to have a bit of boot as well.
“He looked to want slow ground on the flat but he seemed to handle that well, it's quick out there."
