Johnny Murtagh registered his first winner in the training ranks since hanging up his boots when Fix It hung on under Niall McCullagh in the BWG Foods Handicap at Dundalk.
Despite being keen, Fix It was able to get to the front a furlong out. Favourite Political Policy came home well from the rear but couldn't peg back the winner who was half a length to the good at the line.
"He was entitled to that and is coming along nicely," said Murtagh.
"He likes the surface and was well weighted to win that. I'm delighted for Niall. He gave him a great ride and does a lot of work in the yard. It was a great start for us.
"We might stick him up to a mile next time. He's more settled and relaxed and Niall said he would probably get a mile - although seven may be his trip." (GC & EM)
