McManus quickly back with a winner after Champ's fall J P McManus was quickly back in the winning groove following Champ’s fall over at Cheltenham, Spruced Up racing to a convincing success in the Fairyhouse 2020 Ladies Handicap Hurdle. Aine O’Connor did the steering on the Eddie Harty-trained 9/2 shot, and the Oscar mare raced to an eighteen length win over Comporta. Four to one joint favourite Wolfofallstreets finished a neck back in third. McManus won the first at Tramore with Saint Roi, and Musical Slave did the business in the green and gold over at a foggy Exeter. “That was nice. It wasn't much of a race to be fair and there wasn't anything standing out in the betting,” said Harty. “Except for one horse there wasn't much between them in the market and that's a sign of what it was. “The penny is dropping with her and she won well but as I say it wasn't much of a race and we won't be making any great plans. “She's an average mare but was a bit better than the rest. We'll take it, it was worth a few quid for what it was. “It's a good start to the year and a good start to the decade!” Miss M. O'Sullivan, rider of Conright Boy trained by Mrs. C. O'Leary, reported to the Clerk of Scales that her mount never travelled. The Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board Veterinary Officer examined Conright Boy, trained by Mrs. C. O'Leary, at the request of the Stewards and reported the animal to be clinically abnormal post race. Under the provisions of Rule 90, the Stewards allowed Dessie's Diamond, trained by Paul W. Flynn, to run on receipt of the trainer's written assurance that the error identified in the certification of vaccinations would be corrected in accordance with Rule 91 within the timeframe specified.
