Save Your Love confirmed the promise of his comeback run when opening his account in the mile maiden at Gowran Park.
The Johnny Murtagh-trained gelding had been a staying on third at Navan in late March and went to post 6/5 favourite today.
Ben Coen tracked the front-running Walsingham before asking his mount to challenge early in the straight.
The Invincible Spirit gelding had a narrow advantage passing the furlong pole and despite running away from the stick a bit inside the final furlong he asserted close home for a length-and-a-half win. Hutton Glen stayed on to grab the runner-up spot, half a length in front of the long-time leader.
Murtagh said:- “He’s learning all the time and had a nice run at Navan. Ben said when he hit the front today he still had a little look around.
“He’s a nice horse and is coming along slowly. It would be nice to give him a little break between his races and he probably appreciated the better ground today.
“I’d say he’d definitely get another furlong or two.”
