Light lands a gamble as Jones loses claim Sea Light landed a gamble as he took the Horse & Jockey Handicap Hurdle, under Rob Jones (lost his three pound claim in the process) for Charles Byrnes. The five-year-old showed little on four efforts in maiden hurdles, but he ran a respectable race on his handicap debut at Clonmel last time out, finishing just over nine lengths fifth to Go Paddy Go. Available at 10/1 in a place this morning, the son of Brian Boru opened on-course at just 3s, touching 10/3 before going off the clear 2/1 favourite. Settled in mid-division, he improved to take closer order from the third last, and he was on terms before the straight. He hit the front two out, and was in command at the last, before being pushed out on the run-in to score comfortably by four lengths. Faranadooney finished second at 16/1 for Shane Duffy, while Caitlin Brook was a further two lengths back in third under Shane Shortall for Stephen Ryan at 7/1. Charles Byrnes said afterwards: "The ground helped him a small bit, and I think that is Rob's last winner with a three pound claim. "He ran okay the last day and wherever we can get good ground that's where he will go." "The syndicate (the Come Home Sober Syndicate) are local to me." Additional reporting by Alan Magee
